Mondrian. The Artist Formerly Known as Sleepy.

A blog post from July 9, 2011 ·

When Mondrian fled Paris in 1938 due to the threat of World War II, he spent two years in London, before he left for New York. During these two years he frequently sent postcards to his brother Carel, who remained in the Netherlands with his wife.

Just before leaving Paris, Carel and Piet watched the Disney movie Snowwhite. Arriving in London, Piet sent Carel a range of Snowwhite postcards, referring to his brother as Sneezy and himself as Sleepy. He also owned a record with the music of the dwarves on it.
